My Story
After years of struggling with autoimmune disease and tick borne infection, a functional medicine doctor encouraged me to test for food sensitivities. I was shocked to find that I was sensitive to some of my favorite healthy foods, like kale. Taking those offending foods out of my diet and making changes in lifestyle helped me heal from the tick borne infection and get my life back. A big part of changing my lifestyle was to address stress management, learning how to calm my autonomic nervous system through relaxation breathing and getting exercise that was calming and not draining. I still have to remember to let things go and give them back to God. I like the Serenity prayer, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

Lisa Brown is friendly, pleasant to work with, and incredibly thorough going. She delved deeply into lab tests of my blood levels going back several years to get a comprehensive assessment of my overall health, recommended not only changes to my diet but also factors (like blood sugar levels and blood pressure) to monitor over time, and communicated directly with my doctor to suggest additional lab tests and changes in medications. She then spent a lot of time with me to explain what was happening and the rationale for her recommendations. She’s awesome and I recommend her highly! —MM
